if you find this information helpfull please make a donation to help keep the site running
This downgrader has been tested by the highly-successful Noobz team and has been proven to work, however there is a small chance that bricking could occur during the process of downgrading . mErclan.net and the Noobz team are not responsible for any damage which may happen to your PSP by this application. Can you also note before use that it is possible to brick using this downgrader if you downgrade and then update to 3.03 and then downgrade again. The advice from Fanjita right now is to only use this once. If you update to 3.03 again after using the downgrader then we suggest you leave it there to prevent your PSP from bricking.
Now we've got the boring bit over with, we can move onto the downgrade process itself. Here's how to downgrade from 3.03 to 1.50:
1. Update to firmware 3.03. If already have this firmware then proceed to step 2.
2. Open the 3.03 downgrade file and copy the contents of the folder MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
3. Open the 1.5 update and rename the EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP then copy it to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
Make sure not to overwrite PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
4. Load Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (unpatched)
5. It should get to loading save game, clear the screen, the screen should fill with a light blue color and then reset the PSP
(If this does not happen see below)
6. Check that HEN is running by going to system settings then System Information and it should show up as system version 303 HEN
7. If it is showing up as 3.03 HEN then go to the memory stick and run the x.yz update
8. Before the downgrader does anything to your PSP it will ask for you to agree to what it is doing
If you no longer want to continue press the Right Shoulder Button (R-TRIGGER).
9. Once you have agreed to start the downgrade do not unplug the PSP
10. Once finished the PSP will ask you to press X, after pressing it will reset it self.
11. If it comes up saying that the settings are corrupt press X to continue.
12. Enjoy your new shiny 1.5 PSP.
now check out the latest custom firmware for all your iso and homebrew needs
this downgrader below may be older than the above method but has been used by myself ({mEr}Boff/elboffor) on numerous ocasions without fault, but for gods sake use custom firmware instead of debhook!
Important information about the downgrade
This downgrader was made primarily by dark_alex and has been tested by myself on 3 psp's with a 100% success rate, this does not however mean it is 100% safe. Any program that writes to flash memory can potentially brick your psp. so remember this !!! YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!
DO NOT UNPLUG THE CHARGER OR TURN OFF/RESET THE PSP DURING THE DOWNGRADE PROCESS, IF YOU DO YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PSP
Pre downgrade check list
OK first of all there is 2 checks you must make to be sure you're psp can be downgraded - failure to check this could result in a bricked psp!
1. Open the umd drive and look in the top right corner on the green circuit board. If it has writing on it then you cant downgrade - check this image of an incompatible psp (note the psp colour makes no difference)
2. In the XMB (thats the psp's menu system) navigate to system settings / system information and check what version of the system software you are running. If it is lower than 2.5 then you must upgrade to either 2.5 or 2.6 before attempting the downgrade - do not use network update!!!
download the 2.6 update eboot here -
put it in the psp/game folder of yer memmory card
once uve copy'd the file simply goto memory card (under the umd game icon) plug in the charger and click on the update!
Unfortunalty 2.7 and 2.71 psp's cannot yet be downgraded
Preparing the psp for the downgrade
1. Grab a copy of the software you need -
copy anything you wish to keep that is on your memmory card (savegames etc)
format the memory card using the psp
unzip the files found in the download and place them in the root of your memory card, not the MP_ROOT folder
you will need a copy of GTA liberty city stories that has the 2.00 update on the disk, if it has a higher update then the downgrade will not work
and finally ensure the battery is fully charged and the charger is near by
The Downgrade
Launch the gta umd (without the charger plugged in)
it will auto load the e-loader menu
plug in the charger
and press X
You will see the memmory stick flash on and off for upto 3 minutes and then your psp should restart, upon restart simply do a hard reset (hold up the power switch for upto 10 seconds untill the psp turns off) turn it back on and check to make sure its a 1.5 ;)
there you have it, a fully downgraded psp
now go to the Devhook section for info about playing umd's and iso's
